Some people online swear Willie Nelson walked onstage with Trigger and paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
BUT THAT VERSION DOES NOT MATCH THE REAL FOOTAGE.
Ozzy was honored at the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, where he watched from a black throne as the greatest rockstars of all time performed his classics.
Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan and Wolfgang Van Halen helped tear into “Crazy Train.”
Then country singer Jelly Roll joined legendary guitarist Zakk Wylde for “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”
All-Star Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne
But here’s where Willie’s name got pulled in…
Some posts claimed Willie was part of the tribute, but credible reports on the Rock Hall performance name Jelly Roll, Zakk Wylde, Maynard James Keenan, Wolfgang Van Halen, Billy Idol, Chad Smith, Robert Trujillo, and others. Willie Nelson was not listed as part of that performance.
And that’s not all…
Ozzy passed away on July 22, 2025, just weeks after his final farewell show. He was 76. So the emotion behind these tributes is real, even if the Willie version appears to be internet folklore.
Here’s why Willie still belongs in this conversation…
Here’s the truth…
Willie Nelson has outlived so many friends across country and rock that every farewell song feels heavier now.
“Always On My Mind” has a new meaning when sung by a man who has spent 93 years loving, losing, and remembering.
So tell us… Would you want to hear Willie Nelson record a real tribute to Ozzy?
