When Zac Efron made Michael Jackson cry – what did they talk about?

Michael Jackson is remembered for the records, the performances, and the legacy. But there is a version of him that people who actually knew him always talk about. Someone who made you feel seen, even when he was the one everyone else was watching.

A real celebrity with no ego, no arrogance

In an interview, Zac Efron recalls an amazing phone call with Michael Jackson. He was at the dinner table with the director, Kenny Ortega, who told him Michael Jackson was on the phone.

Zac laughed, not believing it. Then he picked up, and it was actually Michael Jackson.

ZAC WAS STUNNED. HE HAD  NO IDEA WHAT TO SAY

Then Michael started the conversation and talked to him about the movie “The High School Musical,” stating he was a big fan.

Zac could barely process it. He kept asking in total disbelief, “You know who I am?”

Like a kid who couldn’t believe his hero even knew his name.

When he finally found his words, he told Michael everything. That he was his hero. Watching him perform taught him how to move, how to feel music, and how to give everything on a stage. He thanked him for showing a whole generation how to shine.

Michael went quiet, then he cried too

That’s the thing about Michael Jackson that never makes the headlines. The super performances, blasting shows, and everlasting popularity aside. He was the kind of man who’d find time to watch a young kid in a Disney movie and take the time to call and say, “I see you.”

And when that kid told him what he meant to the world, it still moved him to tears.

FAME NEVER MADE HIM NUMB

That’s rare. That’s human. And that’s the part of Michael Jackson worth remembering!
