But Jamal is tearing up the standard celebrity playbook.
Starting next week, on March 9, he is coming right back to the exact streets that raised him. He is not returning just to wave from the back of a fancy parade float. He is rolling up his sleeves and going back to work.
He is taking over The MAX in Meridian for a special spring break camp. He is inviting local students from grades 5 through 12 to spend their afternoons with him. He is personally guiding their rehearsals. He is stepping right back into the role of a teacher.
