One of the most talked about eliminations of the season just happened on American Idol, and fans are not happy about it.
When Ryan Seacrest announced the Top 3, Hannah Harper was the first to be called. Then Keyla Richardson. Then Jordan McCullough. That left Braden Rumfelt and Chris Tungseth standing on stage with their hearts broken, ready to head home.
The reaction online hit fast and hard. Fans took to social media immediately.
One wrote, “Braden should have been Top 3.”
Another said, “Braden and Chris robbed, done watching now.”
and a third added “No way! Braden should have been in the Top 3.”
Braden Rumfelt’s “Lose Control” last performance.
Fans felt Braden still had more to give. His journey built week after week, and many felt he had not yet reached his ceiling. Paula Abdul told him she absolutely loved his voice, but pushed back, saying:
“Own the stage. Your voice can fill arenas but I feel like you’re out there standing in the wings. I need you to believe in yourself.”
Luke Bryan told him to “swag it up,” while Lionel Richie urged him not to think too much and just relax and be in the moment.
The judges heard something real in him. But the stage presence didn’t fully show up when it counted.
Meanwhile, Hannah Harper, Keyla Richardson, and Jordan McCullough move on to the Season 24 finale.
Braden’s most viral performance “Love On The Brain”
That is what makes this so hard for fans to accept. The Braden in that video and the Braden in the semifinals felt like two different people.
One owned the stage completely. The other held back at the worst possible moment.
WAS THIS UNFAIR? MAYBE!
But in a live vote competition, one off night can end everything, no matter how much potential you carry.
The right voice is yet to be selected on the finale episode.
