Hannah Won American Idol! Then, she revealed the Unreleased Song She Wrote for the Man Who Made It All Possible

While the world was still celebrating Hannah Harper’s American Idol win, Hannah was already thinking about one person. Not the judges. Not the fans. Her husband, Devon.

DEVON MENDENHALL WALKED AWAY FROM HIS ENTIRE CAREER SO HANNAH COULD CHASE HERS.

He left law enforcement, moved back home, and became a full-time stay-at-home dad to their three young boys — for months. Hannah did not sugarcoat what that cost him.

“My husband has had to sacrifice everything so that I could be here. We basically just had to reverse roles — which has been confusing for everyone, because a man is not built to do that. He’s had to give up his entire life, his work, to be Mr. Mom.”

Hannah thanks Devon for his sacrifice

But Devon never once made her feel guilty for it. Not once did he ask her to shrink herself. Not once did he pull her back.

“That man has never made me feel like my flame should be any dimmer than it needs to be.”

So Hannah did what she does best. She wrote him a song. It is called “My Hero, A Simple Man” — and it is still unreleased.

The world has not heard it yet. But Devon has, and that is exactly the point.

Hannah talks about marital life while giving a house tour

“I could never repay him for all the things that he has sacrificed. As much as I would like to say this win was my own doing — if I didn’t have a village of people behind me, there is no way I would have been able to.”

Hannah Harper won American Idol. But Devon Mendenhall made it possible by offering his constant support. And somewhere out there, there is a song waiting to prove it.
