Just two days ago, on March 5, the world should have been celebrating a massive milestone. If he were still with us today, in 2026, the youngest prince of the Gibb family, Andy Gibb, would have turned 68 years old!
Andy Gibb wasn’t just “the little brother.” He was a superstar who burned so bright that for a moment, he actually outshone the Bee Gees. While his brothers were ruling the disco world, Andy was making history on his own.
Even though Barry Gibb was 12 years older than Andy, the two looked and sounded so much alike that fans called them the “secret twins.” Barry didn’t just love Andy; he mentored him!
He gave Andy his first guitar when he was only 13 and helped him write the songs that would change his life.
Those songs changed Andy’s life; they made him so huge! At one point, he did something even the Bee Gees hadn’t done (with the help of the Bee Gees, of course!) His first three singles all went to #1 on the Billboard charts.

2. “(Love Is) Thicker Than Water”
3. “Shadow Dancing.”
In 1978, “Shadow Dancing” was the #1 song of the entire year. Andy wasn’t just living in his brother’s shadow anymore; he was standing right next to them at the very top of the mountain.
The most intriguing part of Andy’s story is what almost happened. In early 1988, just weeks before he tragically passed away, there were secret plans to finally make it official. Barry, Robin, and Maurice were preparing to bring Andy into the group. The Bee Gees were about to become a four-man band.
Imagine the harmonies! Imagine the power! Sadly, we never got to hear that 4th voice join the legendary blend.
But in the hearts of fans in 2026, Andy has always been the 4th Bee Gee.
Andy Gibb was the “Golden Boy” of the 70’s. He had the hair, the voice, and the hits. Even though he left us far too soon, his music is the sparkle that keeps the Gibb legacy feeling young and alive.
