Know Your Cars? 60 Questions on Models, Badges and Specs

Know Your Cars? Illustrated burgundy and silver sports cars.

You recognize the badge before the car reaches the corner. You remember the sports coupe that covered your bedroom wall. You might even know an engine by its code. But how wide does that knowledge stretch once familiar names give way to specifications, design history and the stories behind the emblems?

This automobile quiz brings together 60 questions on cars, models, badges, engines and naming origins. Some should feel like a warm-up. Others ask you to slow down and read the details. The challenge is to connect what you know about the outside of a car with what makes it work underneath.

From familiar badges to memorable models

A small badge can carry a surprisingly long story. Rings, stars, animals and geometric shapes can point to a company's origins, its home city or a business that existed before it made cars. Every question includes a relevant photograph, emblem or mechanical reference image. Look closely at the badges and body shapes, then use the wording to decide exactly what is being asked.

The model questions take you through celebrated sports cars, everyday automotive icons and vehicles that changed expectations. You will encounter American pony cars, Japanese performance favorites and European grand tourers. There are questions about memorable debuts and design choices, alongside the names that have become part of car culture.

You do not need to own a special car to enjoy the challenge. An interest in the subject, a few memories from magazines or a habit of noticing what passes on the road can all help. A familiar badge might earn you a quick point, while a less familiar model can introduce you to something worth exploring afterward.

Read the specifications carefully

A model name alone rarely tells the whole mechanical story. Cars change across generations, markets and versions. That is why specification questions identify the relevant vehicle or generation wherever the distinction matters. Read those details before choosing an answer, especially when you see an engine code, a date or a particular version.

This round includes cylinder arrangements, displacement, turbochargers, engine placement and drivetrain technology. It also reaches into electrified motoring with questions about battery capacity and braking energy. You will not need to calculate lap times or memorize a current price list. The emphasis is on understanding what the terms describe and remembering a few standout examples.

Units matter as well. A power figure, a torque figure and a battery capacity describe different things. When a question specifies a unit, keep that unit in mind rather than substituting a similar-looking number you may have seen elsewhere. The correct answer should fit the exact question being asked.

A clue and a story with every answer

Each question has four choices and one correct answer. The wrong choices are written for that particular question, rather than pulled from one small repeating list. Some are close enough to reward careful reading; others give you a useful starting point for elimination.

If you get stuck, use the hint. It is there to nudge your memory with a detail, association or explanation. After answering, read the short explanation to see why the answer fits. Source links accompany the explanations if you want to explore the original manufacturer history or technical reference.

Treat your score as a snapshot of what you know today. There is no invented claim that only a particular percentage of drivers can pass. A missed answer can be the most memorable part of the round if it sends you away with a new fact.

How to play

Start the quiz, read each question and select one of the four answers. Check the explanation before moving on, and use a hint when you need a little help. Work through all 60 questions to reach your final score. You can play without creating an account, and the hints are part of the experience.

Take your time with the specifications and enjoy the easier recognition questions between them. When you finish, compare scores with a friend or try again to see what you remember. Ready to find out how much automobile knowledge you have picked up? Hit the button below
