Fans Are Demanding Carrie Underwood Be Removed From American Idol — And The List of Reasons Is Getting Longer

Carrie Underwood has been one of the biggest names in country music for over 20 years. But right now, the conversation around her has nothing to do with her music.

It started with a look.

During the April 27 Taylor Swift-themed episode of American Idol, comedian Nikki Glaser joined the panel as a guest judge.

CAMERAS CAUGHT WHAT VIEWERS DESCRIBED AS VISIBLE TENSION BETWEEN GLASER AND UNDERWOOD THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE BROADCAST.

Fans flooded social media within minutes. “Carrie was clearly unhappy.” “She looked mad about something the whole show.” “So weird and unprofessional.” The clip spread fast. People started rewatching it frame by frame.

Underwood went on SiriusXM days later and denied everything. “No beef. I have no beef,” she said. Nobody believed her.

But that wasn’t the beginning of the problem. It was just the latest chapter.

Earlier in the season, Underwood sat completely still while Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie leaped to their feet, giving Jamal Roberts — last year’s winner and the first Black male champion in over two decades — a standing ovation.

She stayed in her chair. The camera caught it. The internet did not let it go.

Then came the goat.

Underwood revealed she had named her new pet goat Jamal. Whether it was a coincidence or not, people had already decided what they thought it meant.

THE BACKLASH WAS IMMEDIATE, AND IT WAS BRUTAL.

Before all of that, she was being booed by live studio audiences for her critiques of contestants mid-season. Fans who once idolized her were now openly calling her the worst judge in the show’s history.

And now, with Season 24 wrapped and Hannah Harper crowned the winner, the question everyone is asking is simple — is Carrie Underwood coming back?

SHE HASN’T SAID YES. SHE HASN’T SAID NO. THAT SILENCE IS LOUDER THAN ANYTHING SHE’S POSTED ONLINE.

Fans are already circulating petitions. Others are calling for Jennifer Hudson to take her seat. Producers haven’t made a single public statement.

One season ago, Carrie Underwood was celebrated as the greatest thing to happen to this show. Today, the people who loved her most are the ones asking her to leave.
